We are a community-focused Multi-Sport and Recreation Facility dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and social connection in the Northland region. Our facility serves a diverse range of local sports clubs, community groups, and individuals.

We are seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Executive Committee. As a volunteer committee member, you will play a vital role in the governance, strategic direction, and daily operations of our facility.

Core Eligibility Requirements (Both Positions)

To be considered for any of the executive roles, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Must be 18 years or older.
  • Location: Must be a current resident of Northland and able to attend monthly/ bimonthly meetings in person.
  • Commitment: Able to commit to the role for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Role-Specific Descriptions

1. Chairperson

BaySport seeks an experienced and impartial Independent Chairperson to support strong governance and lead effective, well‑run meetings. This role provides neutral oversight, ensures compliance with the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, and helps the committee make clear, accountable decisions that benefit all member codes and the wider community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Chairing committee and general meetings with fairness, structure, and efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with the constitution and the Incorporated Societies Act 2022
  • Facilitating balanced discussion and sound decision‑making
  • Supporting the President and Secretary with agenda planning and meeting follow‑through
  • Upholding natural justice, transparency, and good governance practice
  • Maintaining independence from operational matters and internal politics

2. Secretary

The Secretary is the chief administration officer, ensuring the smooth running of committee meetings and maintaining official records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute agendas and notices for monthly meetings and the AGM.
  • Take accurate minutes at all meetings and distribute them to committee members in a timely manner.
  • Manage official correspondence and maintain up-to-date files, including the membership register.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legal reporting timelines (e.g., filing annual returns).
