
About the Role:
As a Board Member, you will provide strategic oversight, governance, and thought leadership to support Doughnut Economics Advocates NZ’s mission and long-term viability. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation operating at the intersection of community development, sustainability, and systems change.
The Board is currently focusing on an organisational reset, and new members will play a pivotal role in establishing our strategy for the next 3+ years. You will work collaboratively with fellow board members, guide decision-making, ensure accountability, and support our Repair Café and Doughnut Hub managers to expand our reach and influence.
Requirements:
We are particularly seeking candidates with experience in Financial/accounting skills for a Treasurer role. For the general Board roles we are seeking skills and experience in one or more of the following:
- Community-building sectors (e.g., repair networks, parents and teachers networks, grassroots initiatives, social enterprises)
- Community level grant funding
- Education and learning environments
- Public policy, regulatory frameworks, or local government
- Activism, advocacy, or political engagement
- Waste minimisation and knowledge of Doughnut Economics
About Doughnut Economics Advocates New Zealand (DEANZ):
We are passionate about making a tangible difference in waste minimisation and sustainable living. We run a series of monthly Repair Cafés across Auckland and maintain 3 Doughnut Hubs—composting and gardening hubs based at local schools.
