Waltham Community Cottage is seeking a warm, organised, and community-minded Kitchen Leader to run our weekly community lunch. This role is about much more than cooking — it's about creating a welcoming space where people can connect, share kai, and feel part of the community.

Key Responsibilities

The Community Lunch Kitchen Leader will:

Plan and coordinate a weekly lunch for approximately 40 people.

Develop simple, nutritious, and budget-conscious menus.

Lead and support a team of kitchen volunteers.

Coordinate food preparation, cooking, serving, and kitchen clean-up.

Ensure safe food handling and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment.

Help create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for all lunch attendees.

Work collaboratively with Waltham Community Cottage staff and volunteers.

Community Event Support

From time to time, the Kitchen Leader will also help coordinate catering for larger community celebrations and events, including occasions such as Matariki, Christmas, and other community gatherings, where meals may be provided for 100+ people.
