Are you passionate about the environment and community? The Beautification Trust is seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and help provide strategic direction, oversight, and support to fulfil our mission of connecting and empowering communities to learn, love, and look after our environment.
We are looking for two people who each bring something different. One trustee who has deep knowledge of the sectors and issues we work in — environment, climate, zero waste, kai or community. And one trustee who brings professional governance skills that strengthen how we operate. If you bring both, even better. Read on to see where you fit.
About the Role
As a Trustee, you will work collaboratively with fellow Board members to ensure the Trust's strategies and activities align with its mission, values, and objectives. This is an unpaid voluntary position, requiring a commitment of approximately 4–6 hours per month, including attending Board meetings and occasional events. Board meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in regular Board meetings and contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Helping to shape and review the Trust's policies, procedures, and strategy.
- Promoting the Trust externally and fostering relationships with stakeholders.
- Guiding to ensure compliance, financial sustainability, and effective risk management.
- Supporting staff and volunteers to deliver meaningful community and environmental outcomes.
About you
We're looking for two trustees — ideally each person matches one of the profiles below.
Profile 1 — Sector Knowledge
Deep knowledge of one or more of the issues we work on
- Climate, conservation or environment
- Zero waste or circular economy
- Kai sovereignty or food systems
- Community development
- Māori or Pacific community leadership
- Environmental sector networks
Profile 2 — Governance & Skills
Professional expertise to strengthen our Board in one or more of these areas
- Legal matters
- IT or cyber security
- Marketing or communications
- Income generation
- Financial planning or accounting
- Local government or policy
