Volunteer Opportunity: Content Creator – Help Bring ME/CFS Awareness to Life
Associated New Zealand Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) Society Inc

ANZMES is looking for a creative, reliable volunteer to help us produce clear, accessible, and visually engaging graphics for our social media and awareness campaigns. If you enjoy design, care about ME/CFS advocacy, and want to make a meaningful contribution from home, this role could be a great fit.
This is a light, flexible role that works alongside our Communications Team.
About the Role
Content Creator – Graphics & Visual Storytelling Approx. 2–3 hours per fortnight
We’re looking for someone who can take key messages, research summaries, or awareness themes and turn them into simple, effective graphics that reflect ANZMES’ visual identity and values.
Your work will help people across Aotearoa understand ME/CFS, PEM, dysautonomia, pacing, and other key concepts — and will support our magazine themes, advocacy campaigns, and educational content.
What You’ll Do
- Create graphics aligned with our **content calendar **(e.g., PEM, dysautonomia, awareness months).
- Turn short summaries or key points from our Communications Team into visual posts.
- Follow ANZMES’ brand and terminology guidelines.
- Ensure graphics are accessible (clear fonts, good contrast, readable layouts).
- Work collaboratively with the Communications Lead, who will provide briefs and feedback.
- Prepare graphics for Facebook and other platforms.
Skills & Experience
You don’t need to be a professional designer — just someone with an eye for clarity and good communication.
Helpful skills include:
- Experience with Canva
- Ability to follow a brief and maintain brand consistency
- Understanding of visual accessibility (or willingness to learn)
- Interest in health communication or ME/CFS advocacy
Personal Attributes
- Creative and reliable
- Calm, thoughtful communicator
- Values accuracy and person‑first language
- Comfortable working independently with light guidance
What This Role Achieves
- Gives ANZMES a consistent, recognisable visual identity
- Helps the public understand ME/CFS through clear, accessible graphics
- Supports our shift away from reposting toward original, branded content
- Contributes directly to awareness, education, and advocacy across Aotearoa
