CPNZ Papakura is a local volunteer community patrol group, part of the national Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ) network, working with NZ Police as extra "eyes and ears" to enhance safety in the Papakura, Takanini, Karaka and Drury areas by watching for suspicious activity, reporting incidents, and building community resilience, operating under police guidance and supported by local efforts and donations.

Make a Difference Where You Live – Join the Papakura Community Patrol

Do you care about the safety and wellbeing of your neighbourhood? The Papakura Community Patrol is looking for everyday locals who want to make a real difference in their community. Our patrollers while covering the whole area also tend to gravitate to the area, they know best which is where they live so if you want your immediate neighbourhood to be patrolled join us and make that difference.

Mums, dads, grandparents, recent arrivals, teachers, tradies, retirees, technicians, young and old (about 50 of us so far and growing). We each patrol at least twice a month for 3 hours. Our patrol hours are Monday to Saturday 9.00am – 12.00 noon, 1.30pm – 4.30pm, 6.00pm – 9.00pm, 8.00pm – 11.00pm and 10.00pm – 1.00am. You get to choose days and hours that suit you as best we can on the monthly roster. Uniform includes hats, jackets, shirts, vests and ID cards are provided.

As a patroller, you’ll help keep our streets, parks, and public spaces safer by being extra eyes and ears for Police. You’ll patrol in pairs, receive full training, wear a uniform, and use a patrol vehicle — all while contributing just a few hours a month.

Our dedicated patrol cars (two) are sign written, safe, comfortable to drive and are well known around Papakura, Karaka, Takanini and Drury. We always work in teams and there is no requirement to drive, you can be a patrol observer or help at our events.

You don’t need any special experience, and you don't even need to drive the patrol vehicle. If you’re reliable, community-minded, and willing to help, we’ll support you every step of the way. Training is straightforward, practical, and focused on common sense and safety.

Patrolling is rewarding, social, and meaningful. You’ll meet great people, build skills that look good to employers, and know that what you’re doing genuinely helps your community. A few hours of your time a month can make a big difference. Join the Papakura Community Patrol and be part of something that matters.
