Do you enjoy being outdoors, working alongside children, and contributing to your local community in a meaningful way? We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to support outdoor experiences at our kindergarten in the Hoon Hay area.
About the Role
Our kindergarten has a developing vegetable garden designed to: Support garden-to-table learning for children Provide a shared space for whānau to access fresh produce and connect Create opportunities for children to experience nature, care, and contribution This space is part of our wider commitment to strengthening community connection and wellbeing, particularly in an area where families may experience barriers to access, stability, or resources.
We are looking for someone to help: Maintain and grow the vegetable garden alongside teachers and tamariki Support children to plant, harvest, and explore Assist with community walks beyond the gate, helping children safely connect with their local environment Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive space for children and whānau
You don’t need to be an expert gardener, just someone who: Enjoys being outdoors and working with children Is patient, approachable, and community-minded Values inclusion, respect, and building relationships Can commit to a regular time (flexible options available)
Your time will directly support children to develop confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging and families to feel more connected and supported. You will be a part of creating and maintaining a shared space that brings people together through food, learning, and nature
