Museum Ambassador
Britten Museum managed by Volunteering Canterbury

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join us. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do – welcoming visitors, sharing stories, and helping us honour the legacy of John Britten.
What’s involved:
- Become a friendly face to meet & greet our visitors, answer questions & provide direction.
- Be available for one or more (4 hour) shifts each week.
- Be approachable, well-presented, and courteous.
- Engage in conversation with visitors as required.
What we’re looking for:
- You’ll have a genuine interest in people and excellent people skills.
- Confidence in speaking with complete strangers.
- An interest in the Britten story – product knowledge we can teach you, but you must have a willingness to learn.
What you’ll receive:
- Training, support and comradeship from our team.
- Invitations to Museum events and volunteer gatherings.
- The opportunity to contribute directly to preserving and celebrating one of New Zealand’s greatest stories.
- The satisfaction of being part of a successful tourist attraction in your hometown.
Why volunteer? The Britten Museum is a not-for-profit, charitable trust, built by a collective of people who respect and admire the man who re-invented the motorcycle and created a machine with technology and style decades ahead of its time.
By volunteering, you’ll be helping to share John Britten’s legacy with the world – while also making a personal contribution to the Christchurch community.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
