Monday Food Rescue Volunteer 7am to 10am

### Monday Mornings Food Rescue Driver & Volunteer – Help Save Good Food from Going to Waste Are you passionate about reducing food waste and helping your local community? If so, this could be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.
We are looking for a reliable and friendly volunteer to assist with our morning food rescue runs. This role plays an important part in ensuring perfectly good food is collected from local supermarkets and redistributed to community organisations that need it most.
About the Role Based in Johnsonville close to public transport, this role involves driving our refrigerated truck and collecting donated food from several supermarkets. You will depart from our warehouse at 7.00am and visit:
- New World Newlands
- New World Churton Park
- New World Porirua
During each collection you will carefully check donated food to ensure it has not passed its Use By date. After checking the items, you will box the food, photograph it using a KCA phone, weigh the stock, and upload the details into our online system and Facebook.
At New World Churton Park, you will also collect any empty banana boxes and record the number collected. These boxes are reused back at our warehouse to store non-food items.
Once you return to the warehouse, our team will assist with unloading the empty banana boxes. The rescued food will then be placed into refrigeration and the relevant community agencies will be contacted using the KCA phone so they can collect the food allocated to them.

All stock is redistributed to local foodbanks and community organisations, helping families while also reducing landfill.
