Show Director
Matuku Community Theatre managed by Volunteering Canterbury

As the visionary and leader of the show, the Director sets the tone and agenda for the season. They need to be able to express this vision clearly to the cast and crew and be a positive motivating force for MCT. They are also responsible for the following: Casting and blocking of all scenes Planning rehearsal schedules and keeping cast on the job. Maintaining the artistic quality and consistency of the production. While they must work closely with the Musical Director on any music selections and decisions, they are responsible for choreography or delegating someone to do the choreography. Communicate clearly and in a timely manner to cast and crew. Work closely with the Musical and Technical Directors on props, costumes, and set pieces. Optional: The director does not have to perform in the show. This is completely optional.
Time requirements: For both seasons: Rehearsals are Sundays from 6.30pm to 9pm and Mondays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We do 2 tech weekends which are compulsory as well as 3 dress rehearsals.
Our main show season is every Friday and Saturday night for 4 weekends (a total of 8 shows). Our Christmas show is for 1 weekend only both Friday and Saturday night.
