Volunteer Home Tutor
English Language Partners Christchurch managed by Volunteering Canterbury
Volunteer with us and become certified as an ESOL home tutor providing English language and settlement support for new migrants and former refugees. The training courses run twice a year, approx 16 hours in course plus self-study. In 2026 the training will be in February and May.
Once trained a commitment of one hour a week for six months is preferred. Lessons can take an hour or more to plan so total time a volunteer may need, could be 2 or 3 hours a week. Volunteers will learn how to tutor their learner in the 4 key English skill areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing as well as how to build vocabulary.
