About Us We provide support services to people living with dementia mate wareware and their carers, family, and whānau. Based in Whakatāne, our team works across the Eastern Bay of Plenty to empower and enable those affected by dementia. No one should have to face this journey alone—and that’s where you come in.
About the Role We’re looking for a hands-on volunteer for the Ōpōtiki Blokes’ Shed to support those who have dementia. This social role helps reduce isolation and loneliness while encouraging those with dementia to feel useful and engaged.
You’ll support woodworking activities and contribute to a friendly, welcoming environment. Funds raised from the sale of goods benefit the local community,
What You’ll Do
- Assist clients with woodworking projects at the Blokes’ Shed
- Encourage participation and create a positive, social atmosphere
- Help with toy-making for fundraising initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Skills in woodworking or carpentry
- Friendly, patient, and supportive attitude
- Ability to commit to one day per week
