About the role

The Kauri Centre has been a valued part of the local community for many years, offering a welcoming, centre-based activity programme for seniors. Based at St Mary’s Church in Bayfair, our programme continues to grow, and we’re now looking for friendly and reliable Activity Support Volunteers to join our team.

This is a rewarding, people-focused role where you’ll help create a positive, inclusive environment that supports seniors to live well and stay socially connected.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting group activities such as games, crafts, gentle exercise, and social sessions

  • Welcoming and engaging with participants, offering conversation and companionship

  • Assisting with setting up and packing down activities

  • Encouraging participation and ensuring everyone feels included

  • Helping maintain a safe, warm, and respectful environment

Who we’re looking for

Friendly, patient, and approachable people

A genuine interest in supporting seniors and enhancing their quality of life

Good communication skills and a positive attitude

Reliable and able to work as part of a small team

Previous experience with seniors is helpful but not required
