Social Connections Volunteer Visitor
Around 20% of older adults experience loneliness and social isolation, which can have a significant impact on their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. At Age Concern, our Social Connections Team is dedicated to helping older people stay connected, engaged, and active within their communities.
Through our accredited Visiting Service, we match caring volunteers with older people who would benefit from regular companionship and friendship. Many older adults living independently spend much of their time alone and would welcome the opportunity to connect with someone who enjoys conversation, shared interests, and friendly company.
As a Volunteer Visitor, you can make a real difference in an older person's life by spending around an hour each week together. Whether it's chatting over a cup of tea, sharing hobbies, or simply enjoying each other's company, these visits help reduce feelings of loneliness and create meaningful connections.
We carefully match volunteers and clients based on personalities, interests, and common experiences to help build genuine, mutually rewarding friendships.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and age groups. What they share is a warm, friendly nature and a desire to support older people in their community.
If you have an hour to spare each week and would like to help someone feel more connected, we'd love to hear from you.
