About the Role: Alzheimers Tauranga is seeking enthusiastic and supportive volunteers to assist with group activities for people living with dementia. As part of a team, you will help create a positive and engaging environment that provides socialisation and cognitive stimulation for our clients. This service not only enhances the well-being of those with dementia, but also offers essential respite for their full-time carers.

Key Responsibilities:

Group Support: Volunteers will work in pairs or small groups, alongside a Team Leader, to support up to 8-10 people living with dementia during each session. Engaging Activities: Lead or assist with a variety of activities such as musical bingo, trivia games (e.g. Trivial Pursuit), discussion topics (current affairs, opinion-based conversations), and other enjoyable games. Socialisation & Cognitive Stimulation: Foster a supportive environment where clients can engage with one another and participate in activities that promote cognitive function and social interaction. Respite for Carers: Allow full-time family carers a break while their loved ones are engaged in meaningful activities in a safe, monitored setting. Who We're Looking For:

Compassionate & Patient Individuals: Volunteers who are empathetic and understanding of the challenges faced by people living with dementia and their families. Team Players: Volunteers must be able to work as part of a small, supportive team alongside a Team Leader and other volunteers. Engaging & Creative: An interest in facilitating group activities and stimulating conversation is essential, as well as a willingness to adapt activities to meet the needs of participants. No Experience Needed: Experience working with dementia or facilitating group activities is beneficial but not required. Full training and support will be provided. What You’ll Gain:
