Role description

Join our Fundraising Team as a volunteer in Wellington!

Fundraising event coordinators organise fundraising events in local communities such as movie nights, sausage sizzles, and bake sales. They also support our Dragon Boat Festival team, manage volunteers and oversee the operation of fundraising activities. You'll report to our Community Fundraising team, who will support you in your role.

Your Tasks

• Support Community Fundraising with planning and coordinating fundraising events. • Liaising with Community Fundraising on tasks and duties. • Managing a team of fundraising event volunteers. • Onboarding and inducting new volunteers. • Creating event rosters and scheduling volunteers to shifts at events. • Managing volunteer rosters for events. • Making sure materials, supplies, and equipment are arranged for all events. • Delegating support responsibilities to event volunteers. • Making sure cash handling processes are followed at events. • Ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing processes are followed at events. • Reporting event results to Community Fundraising.

Volunteer requirements and training

We need friendly, adaptable people who are enthusiastic and take initiative. You should be organized, reliable, and committed to undertaking your role and be able to work independently. You'll need to organize your own travel to and from the events. Our team will provide the training you need to undertake your role.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW)

• Make sure your actions (or lack of actions) don’t harm your health, safety, and wellbeing, or harm anyone else. • Take part in a health, safety, and wellbeing induction, training, programmes and activities. • Follow all instructions given to you about health, safety and wellbeing. • Follow all Red Cross health, safety, and wellbeing policies, standards and procedures about health, safety and wellbeing. • Make sure you have the right training for any activities you are doing. • Use personal protective equipment for any work activities that may need it to stay safe. • If you spot a hazard, or you are involved in an incident or near miss, report this straight away. • Ensure all events are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and wellbeing guidelines.
