Food Donations & Sorting Volunteer, Christmas Season 2024

Tauranga Community Foodbank supported by Volunteering Services (BOP)

Logo for Tauranga Community Foodbank

We provide food and grocery support to more than 25,000 Tauranga locals each year, from Pahoia to Papamoa East and everywhere in between. Our vision? That everyone in our community has access to sufficient, nutritious food. Our role? We stop tummies rumbling. But we also advocate, educate, and collaborate with others in the wider community support network. Long term change takes teamwork – and we’re here for it.

Are you keen to lend a hand to your community over the busy Christmas period?

The holiday season is our busiest time here at the Tauranga Community Foodbank, and we need many hands to make light work!

We are looking for a team of fit and enthusiastic volunteers to join our Meet & Greet teams between the 18th of November and the 20th of December.

The role involves:

  • Meeting and greeting members of the community who are donating items to us.

  • Sorting donated items.

  • You'll need to be comfortable lifting 10kg on your own and be able to stand on your feet continuously for 2 hours at a time.

  • Shifts run Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm.

Ideally we would like folks to be able to volunteer their time at least once a week over the whole duration of the Christmas period (18th November - 20th December), so a minimum of 5 shifts in total. Reliability is the key to success in this role, so please only apply if you are able to commit to 5 shifts (at least) in total.

If you're keen to be part of our organisation and give a helping hand to your community, please apply! Once we receive applications via Seek, we will be in touch with a follow-up form for you to fill in, which will allow you to specify details (such as which day of the week you would prefer).
