Volunteers for a historical site
Symonds Street Cemetery is a historic cemetery and park in central Auckland, New Zealand. We are looking at organising a bi-monthly or quarterly garden maintenance upkeep to ensure this site retains it’s historical importance in Auckland City. Maintenance and administration of the cemetery is provided by the Auckland Council. FSSC work closely with Auckland Council and see our role as an advisory group. We are an advocacy group that will work to ensure Symonds’ Street Cemetery is developed into a Heritage Park for contemplation, reflection and appropriate activities- of which all Aucklanders can be proud. Our committee are looking to organise a clean-up of the cemetery, and we are looking for experienced volunteers to help. The pruning, cleaning and weeding would be for 3 hours on either a Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting. Morning tea will be provided. A rain date will be advised if we have rain. Training will be given. We have a plan of the best times for when the heritage rose pruning, gardening and cleaning be done during the year in the best interest of the cemetery grounds. Looking forward to meeting and working with you.
