As the Board Secretary for Pūkaha, you will be supporting the governance functions of the organisation.

This voluntary position entails working with the GM, Board co-chairs and Board members to ensure effective and efficient governance and compliance.

A commitment of around 6 months would be appreciated.

The specific responsibilities include:

  • Governance Support

  • Assist the GM and Board co-chairs to prepare monthly board agenda and papers

  • Assist the GM and Board co-chairs to plan and deliver planning hui, stakeholder communication and events

  • Maintain board calendar and compliance register and policies

Documentation and Minutes

  • Attend board meetings and accurately record minutes, capturing key discussion points, decisions, and action items.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive board-related information.

  • Distribute minutes to board and GM in appropriate formats and in a timely manner (usually within 5 working days) of board meetings.

  • Confirm action items agreed and follow up with members assigned.

Requirements:

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills

  • A professional and respectful attitude

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in minute-taking and document management.

  • Familiarity with governance processes and procedures

  • Ideally the secretary will have a sound understanding of tikanga Maōri and working in a co-governance environment.
