Board Secretary - Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre
As the Board Secretary for Pūkaha, you will be supporting the governance functions of the organisation.
This voluntary position entails working with the GM, Board co-chairs and Board members to ensure effective and efficient governance and compliance.
A commitment of around 6 months would be appreciated.
The specific responsibilities include:

Governance Support

Assist the GM and Board co-chairs to prepare monthly board agenda and papers

Assist the GM and Board co-chairs to plan and deliver planning hui, stakeholder communication and events

Maintain board calendar and compliance register and policies
Documentation and Minutes

Attend board meetings and accurately record minutes, capturing key discussion points, decisions, and action items.

Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive board-related information.

Distribute minutes to board and GM in appropriate formats and in a timely manner (usually within 5 working days) of board meetings.

Confirm action items agreed and follow up with members assigned.
Requirements:

Proficient written and verbal communication skills

A professional and respectful attitude

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in minute-taking and document management.

Familiarity with governance processes and procedures

Ideally the secretary will have a sound understanding of tikanga Maōri and working in a co-governance environment.
