ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Legal Advisor at Youthmix, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our organisation operates within the legal framework and adheres to all regulatory requirements. You will provide expert legal advice, support, and guidance on a wide range of issues affecting Youthmix, including compliance, risk management, and governance. Your role will help safeguard our mission and ensure our operations are both effective and legally sound.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Ensure that Youthmix complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to non-profit organisations and data protection.
• Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. - Provide advice on risk management practices and implement necessary changes to reduce exposure.
• Assist with the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures to ensure proper oversight and adherence to legal standards.
• Offer legal advice to the Board of Directors and executive team on various matters, including organisational structure, regulatory changes, and legal implications of strategic decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Proven experience as a Legal Advisor or in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector or with experience in youth-focused organisations.
• Strong understanding of New Zealand laws and regulations affecting non-profit organisations and data protection.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legal concepts effectively. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal information in an accessible manner.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all legal work and documentation.
• A commitment to ethical practice and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, including Board members, executive staff, and volunteers, to achieve Youthmix’s goals.
