Biking Companion Wanted

ConneXu Charitable Trust

What is the Volunteer Opportunity?

We are on the hunt for someone to assist a physically capable young man which we support to get out on his bike more often.

This young man enjoys his biking but unfortunately does not get as many opportunities to get out biking around Cambridge as he wants.

He does not require physical support but just someone to keep him company and provide some guidance and oversight to keep him safe.

The type of person he would love to get biking with is someone who is physically fit and able to challenge him to keep up with them.

If this interests you, then please reach out and we can discuss in further detail.

About Us

Our mission at ConneXu is to assist our disabled partners with leading a meaningful life. And indeed, encourage the importance of their cultural identity, religious and holistic connections for the benefit of their spiritual, mental, emotional, physical and social wellbeing. And so, we will work towards providing care for our disabled partners and develop a positive direction for them in this world.

Ko tā mātou mīhana i te kaipākihi o Connexu, he taituarā anō ki ngā tānagata whaikaha me ō rātou hiahia pono. What impact will you have?

Through being a bike friend, you will be supporting the physical, social and mental wellbeing of the person you bike alongside, as well as your own wellbeing.

You will be supporting the person to engage in and be a part of their community by getting out and about.

You will also be providing valuable companionship and social connection with the person you work alongside, enabling their world to get bigger.

Who is the Ideal Bike Friend?

You will be enthusiastic and engaged and want to make a positive difference to people's lives.

You will be physically able to keep up with someone in their 20's.

You will be patient and understanding, and able to adapt to changing moods and behaviour.

You do not need to have previous experience working with disabled persons, induction and appropriate training will be provided.

Your own bike is ideal; however, we can provide a bike for use if required.
