Auckland Puppy Rescue (APR) is a registered charity relying on donations and grants, run solely by volunteers committed to rescuing puppies in need, desexing to control the number of unwanted puppies being born and rehoming all puppies that come into our care.

APR is run by a small group of trustees and volunteers who each contribute valuable skills to ensure the charity’s success. We work collaboratively and communicate regularly and are always there to support our fellow volunteers if they need it.

The key purpose of this role is to lead all the organisation relating to events for the charity with the objective of raising awareness of the work Auckland Puppy Rescue (APR) does, supporting the rehoming of puppies and promoting fundraising opportunities.

Key activities of the role: Event planning: seek out opportunities for APR to raise awareness, support rehoming and promote fundraising within the Auckland area (primarily). This includes liaising with suppliers and APR partners.

Event coordination: work alongside other APR volunteers to coordinate all activities needed to smoothly run successful events where the needs of APR puppies are paramount, the general public have a positive experience and the objectives are met.

Events calendar: prepare and maintain an annual calendar of APR events, including forward planning all the promotion and coordination, and ensuring all events are approved by the APR Trustees in advance of any preparation.

Skills you will need: • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to proactively engage with the general public • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong attention to detail • Proactive attitude • Sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner and take a flexible approach to changes • Ability to work independently and also within a team environment • Ability to attend fundraising events across Auckland
