The Pink Ribbon Street Appeal is one of Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s largest fundraising campaigns. Every year, thousands of awesome volunteers all over the country get decked up in pink and give up their time to stand on the streets of NZ and raise vital funds for breast cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient support.

In order for the 2024 campaign to be successful we need support. Each year Breast Cancer Foundation NZ needs an awesome team of interns who are willing to get stuck in and help make the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal the best one yet!

This internship role (full time for approximately 9 weeks) helps us to successfully deliver our Pink Ribbon Street Appeal (PRSA) on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of October. This role is suitable for a student or recent graduate in management, event management or marketing.

The purpose of this position is: o To provide multi-faceted support to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s Pink Ribbon Street Appeal manager in the build-up to PRSA. o To actively assist in the success of PRSA as a successful fundraising campaign. o You will promote the mission of the foundation: pushing for new frontiers in early detection, treatment and support. Our work encompasses education, awareness, research, medical support and development, community outreach and advocacy.

This position will have relationships with: o Pink Ribbon Street Appeal Manager (reporting to) o Campaigns Manager o Marketing and Fundraising Manager o Health Education Writer

Key Task #1 - PRSA campaign support & planning – o Work alongside the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal Manager to provide support to Area Coordinators and Volunteers as well as other key stakeholders. o Manage updates, registrations & issues within our volunteer program. o Implement and support the recruitment plan of corporate groups and community service groups. o Research new online and offline ways to promote the event and encourage more volunteers to take part.

Key Task #2 – PRSA logistics – o Develop stock lists and pack stock required for Area Coordinators. o Assist in the banking bag process for the tracking of banking in different street appeal areas. o Managing the ordering and distribution process for PRSA volunteer T-Shirts

Key Task #3 – Communications – o Provide phone and email support for PRSA enquiries. o Assist in volunteer journey and recruitment communications. o Collect stories from volunteers to be used throughout the campaign.

Key Task #4 – Social media management– o Aid in development of the social plan. o Keep all social media platforms up to date, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. o Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media. o Analyse the effectiveness of social media posts and advertising. Make recommendations to optimise social posting and advertising.

Knowledge/Experience o Social media knowledge/ fluency o Customer service experience preferred o Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment

Skills/Attributes o High attention to detail and accuracy o Can-do, willing and flexible attitude o Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment o Some level of Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel, and Outlook o Strong, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills o Friendly and confident manner o Excellent customer service o Knowledge of social media platforms

Remuneration: This is a voluntary role. An allowance will be paid to cover travel/lunch costs.

Dates: 5th August – 4 October. This is a full time (Monday-Friday) internship based in Parnell, Auckland. Close to public transport.
