Kites Trust

WHO WE ARE Kites Trust is a peer-led mental health organization which values, respects, and utilizes people’s experiences of mental health distress and/or addiction. OUR PURPOSE Kites Trust works to ensure that people who experience mental health crisis and/or addiction have equal opportunities to live, work and participate in the community. Kites promotes consumer leadership as key to achieving social inclusion, equal citizenship rights and improved mental health services for people who experience mental health distress and/or addiction.

Board of Trustees are responsible for the governance of Kites, which includes developing policies, financial and general accountability and providing strategic guidance to the General Manager and monitoring their performance.

Skills required: • Lived-experience of mental health distress and/or addiction and having used mental health services preferred, or exposure to Lived Experience. • To be far enough along the path of recovery to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
• Experience working in the community or health sector, ideally in a leadership or community facing role. • A genuine interest in the mission of Kites Trust and desire to promote consumer leadership as key to achieving social inclusion, equal citizenship rights and improved mental health services for people who experience mental health distress and/or addiction. • Board governance experience preferred. • Financial acumen required. • A qualification in and/or appropriate experience in Governance, Law, Human Resources, Finance, Management, Strategic and Operational Planning, Mental Health or Community Development.
