Hospice Whanganui is only partially funded by government, over 20% of our funding comes from the income we raise through our retail shops, the Pick Up and Delivery volunteers make an important contribution to providing palliative care to the wider Whanganui community.

• You would need to have a reasonable level of fitness as some lifting is involved and being able to communicate with your team is very important, especially when moving items with another person.

• You will know how to take special care when moving items, both of the items and the private homes they are in.

• Once you have enrolled as a volunteer you can be with us for a few months or choose to stay with us for decades! You will have a full introduction to Hospice Whanganui in our orientation sessions, followed by morning tea. We have regular social events and our volunteer newsletter is a great read every couple of months.
