Training

You’ll receive training in; -Comprehensive first aid -Psychological first aid -Welfare support - Other essential skills for the role. Our teams train regularly and sometimes take part in scenario-based exercises with other response teams.

Time required

Red Cross Disaster Welfare Support Team members are required to attended training sessions, held every fortnight. Training sessions for Rotorua will be communicated at a later date. Deployment of the team could occur at any time, morning or night, weekday or weekend. Volunteer shifts during a deployment are scheduled according to the needs of the disaster recovery.

Requirements

NZ Police Vetting

Ability to attended fortnightly training sessions. Ability to assist in an emergency/disaster at short notice.
