Treasurer – Canterbury Volleyball Association Inc.

The treasurer has overall responsibility for the financial health of the organisation and provides oversight, support and recommendations to ensure this is upheld. They will work with CVA staff and contractors as well as other committee members as required. Key responsibilities:  Making recommendations to the governing body about income and expenditure, investments and debts  Ensuring accurate and timely records of all incoming and outgoing payments are kept and readily accessible.  Review and report on the annual statement of financial performance (profit and loss) and statement of financial position (balance sheet)  Ensuring that the annual audit process is undertaken in a timely fashion according to the constitution and any legal requirements.  Providing regular financial reports to the committee and providing explanations where required  Working with staff and other committee members to draw up budgets for key events and programmes as well as an overall budget for the year.  Ensuring that sufficient funds are available at all times to support the organisation’s liabilities. Skills and experience Specific skills required: Xero MYOB (or similar payroll system) GST Invoicing and bill payment Experience in the following would be helpful: Budgeting and financial planning Small business or not for profit operation or management Estimated Time Commitment Required The estimated time commitment required as the Treasurer of CVA is 1-3 hours per week. This includes 2 hours for (approximately) bi-monthly committee meetings, and a heavier weekly workload around annual reports and audits.
