Ingage Volunteer - Working with tamariki in the care of Oranga Tamariki

Immerse Charitable Trust - Ingage programme

What is Ingage?

Ingage is a therapeutic programme for tamariki and rangatahi in the care of Oranga Tamariki from age 5+. This fun activity-based programme runs every second Saturday during the school term (5 per term, 20 per year) (9am-3.30pm). It is an opportunity for tamariki to have sensory needs met, participate in TBRI® group therapy with their buddy, and create wonderful memories.

TBRI® is an evidence-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. It is used to aid in the support of the Ingage environment.

What is a Buddy?

As a buddy, you will spend the Ingage day paired with one of our tamariki or rangatahi, participating in group activities providing lots of gentle encouragement, praise, gentle correction, and ensuring this child understands their innate preciousness. Buddies will receive training in the theraputic and trauma informed model, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) to aid in the support of the Ingage environment.

We meet at a location in Albany (North Shore, Auckland), and then travel to our activity together. We provide snacks and meals for our volunteers.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for term 4 of this year, which runs on the following dates: 19.10, 02.11, 16.11, 30.11, 14.12.
