Fundraising & Events Volunteer

New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue is seeking reliable, committed volunteers to join our Fundraising Team to help plan, attend and co-ordinate fundraising events. Fundraising is essential to our rescues ability to provide medical and behavioural care for dogs in need, and your work will directly impact their future.

The Role:

You will be working alongside our other supportive fundraising team volunteers to plan and organise fundraising events and identifying any other initiatives to bring income into the charity so we can continue our mission.

Attending events alongside the team, as part of NZCR. Some examples of events we have undertaken previously include: BBQ days at Mitre10 or Bunnings, "Adoption Days" at pet stores, support handling dogs at media interviews and articles and similar.

Liaising with sponsors, businesses, and event hosts to secure donations and partnerships. Seeking out new sponsor contacts and maintaining those relationships.

Maintaining a fundraising calendar with events and initiatives planned ahead to ensure a steady income for the rescue.

Planning fundraising events, including coordinating volunteers and any dogs in care needed for said event.

Organise occasional fundraising meetings with volunteers to keep the team on track and ensure progress is being made (via zoom or in person).

Planning and executing appropriate marketing/promo for any upcoming fundraising products, programmes or events and assisting with marketing promo materials (ie. designing promo and ensuring the public are made aware of our event or products!)
What are we looking for?

Someone with a passion for animal welfare and giving rescue dogs a second chance.

Highly organised, self-motivated and will reliably be able to commit a few hours each week consistently.

Self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal intervention from Trustees. Able to take responsibility for ensuring fundraising efforts stay on track and are planned consistently.

Able to commit long-term and prioritise your role with NZ Chihuahua Rescue.

A strong communicator, organised, and proactive.

Best suited to someone who would describe themselves as, a “people person” who enjoys engaging with others.

Experience with event planning and leadership is a plus!
Ideally, but not essential:

Able to attend and assist with events here in Christchurch. If remote, you will still be able to organise a team of volunteers to attend on the day and plan the event (if based locally).

Prior experience in a similar (paid or volunteer) role.

Willing to step up and take leadership of the team to ensure the goals are complete and each volunteer knows their tasks to complete.
