Grant Submission Volunteers needed!

New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue Trust

Logo for New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue Trust

Our rescue is seeking a committed, reliable and organised volunteer to help us with our fundraising via grants. We need a self-motivated volunteer with great literacy skills, who is able to draft and submit grant applications regularly and help us secure essential funding for our rescue dogs!

Please note: also seeking general fundraising volunteers to assist with events or projects - see other listings.

The Role:

  • Research and identify suitable grants for NZCR, creating a submission calendar. Volunteers will be responsible for using and maintaining this calendar to easily track grants and submission deadlines in future!

  • Complete grant applications, working independently on your assigned grants while collaborating with a small team (1-2 other volunteers) and liaising with Trustees as needed.

  • Contact companies, manufacturers, and vet clinics to gather required quotes.

  • Maintain records of applications submitted and track outcomes.

  • Optional: any additional tasks you think would assist the rescue!

What we're looking for:

  • Strong English literacy and grammar skills.

  • Proven experience in grant writing or tender applications (volunteer or paid).

  • Passion for animal welfare and giving rescue dogs a second chance.

  • Highly organised, self-motivated and will reliably be able to commit a few hours each week consistently.

  • Self-motivated. Able to work independently with minimal intervention from Trustees.

  • Excellent written communication skills—your writing determines whether we secure funding!

WHO ARE WE? New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue (NZCR) is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Chihuahuas, Chihuahua crosses, and other small breeds across New Zealand. We provide the medical and behavioural care they need to thrive before adoption. NZCR relies entirely on fundraising, projects, and donations to operate. Securing grants is crucial to ensuring rescued dogs receive the medical and behavioural care they need before finding safe, loving homes. Please see our website for more information on our charity.
