Driving Mentors for Youth

Hutt City Council - Youth Inspire managed by Volunteer Wellington

Logo for Volunteer Wellington

This agency, with bases in Wainuiomata and Taita Lower Hutt, is committed to helping young people obtain their restricted licence so they are more work ready. Through their Driving School programme they offer students 2 driving lessons per week with a driving mentor. These lessons could take up to 3 months depending on the skill level of the student. An automatic vehicle is provided for the lessons. To be arranged to suit mentor and student - could be daytime, evenings, or weekends. To be successful as a mentor you will love helping youth towards brighter futures: be a confident driver and have a good understanding of the NZ Road Code. You must also be over 25 years and have held a full NZ driving licence for at least 2 years. You need to be able to commit to 3 hours per week for 12 weeks at a time.
