At Natureland we have a wide range of both exotic and native animals with varying dietary needs to cater for. We are looking for a wonderful volunteer to help us on our Wednesday morning shift to assist our keepers by preparing the meals for our animals.

Duties: You will be required to assist us with ensuring the the animals are provided with the correct meals and cleaning their dishes to ensure optimal animal health and hygiene. This includes:

  • Cutting up the animals food, (vegetables, fruit).

  • Weighing the animals food, (pellets, fruit and vegetables),

  • Washing the animals empty food dishes.

Skills: You must be able to skillfully and safely use sharp knives, have good kitchen hygiene, have the ability to sometimes work alone and follow the strict diet sheets. Some of the animals have very specific food requirements therefore the ability to weigh the precise amounts of food is essential.

Hours: 8.15am - 12.15pm, Wednesdays - Weekly.

The food preparation takes around 2 hours in the morning and washing dishes takes around a further 2 hours.

We are looking for someone reliable, and caring that can commit to a weekly shift. (our current vacancy is a Wed. but other mornings may become available in the future so if you are interested in the role but are not available on Wednesdays we'd still love to hear from you!)

Our Volunteer roles are open to those aged 16 years plus.
