As part of a volunteer team you can offer resettlement support for refugees when they arrive in the Greater Wellington region including such tasks as grocery shopping: arranging health care: orientation and friendship. Volunteers are provided with supervision and support including peer support meetings. Time commitment can be high in the first six weeks after arrival in Wellington. After this the average time commitment is one to five hours per week. Some day time availability is preferable. It is useful for the volunteer to have access to a car to carry out some of the tasks e.g. shopping. This can be a demanding and highly rewarding experience. It is important to attend all training sessions and you must be settled in New Zealand.
