We match you with a person with intellectual disability, based on interests and personality. You will then connect via an online media that works for you both.

Over time, the online friendship aims to build to develop a real connection and genuine friendship. By providing a listening ear and a friend to chat to regularly you will have a positive impact in the life of a person with intellectual disability. And furthermore, you can have fun with it! Share your interests such as cooking, painting, music, sports, gaming, or tv/movies - whatever you both enjoy can lead to activities online and fun conversation.

This will be a 1:1 role, meaning you will only be matched with and spend time with one person. Together you decide how often you are in contact, there is flexibility, and it is not time specific. Along with playing an important role in our communities, you will gain a new friend in the process!

All communication and engagement is online and is available to anyone living in New Zealand. Volunteers are provided with full orientation and receive ongoing support from one of our volunteer coordinators.
