Plunket’s Volunteer Home Visiting Programme provides short-term practical support for families referred by their Plunket Nurse. The service is provided in each family’s home and supports them with practical day-to-day tasks (e.g. light housework), emotional support, a chance to catch up sleep, positive parenting, as well as linking families with community activities and support.

Our services are all about helping caregivers from all walks of life to find their feet while raising little ones. You’ll be a responsible and reliable individual who understands how to build connections and help others to feel confident and empowered.

Tasks may include:

Support with transition to parenting Companionship Emotional Support Parenting positively Support in household management - Developing household routines, light housework, meal prep, meal planning Linking families to community activities and services Play ideas

Requirements:

Good Communicator Experience in parenting or experience with babies is required. Kind and empathetic Non-judgmental nature Honest and reliable Physically fit and able to play with active young children and help with household tasks.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment: We expect the role to take 2 to 3 hours of your time per week. Dates and times are negotiated with the family depending on your availability. Initial training takes 3 to 4 hours.
