Kelmarna Gardens is an organic community farm in Ponsonby, central Auckland. ​ Through rebuilding connections between our people and our food, we work to champion and demonstrate a regenerative local food system that supports climate change mitigation, urban resilience and community wellbeing. On around 1.7 hectares of land, we grow vegetables, fruit, herbs, and keep chickens, bees, and livestock, using permaculture methods to produce food for our local community. The farm is staffed Monday to Saturday, teaching volunteers and others regenerative food growing skills, running educational experiences, and supporting people affected by mental health challenges or intellectual disability to garden for therapy. Volunteers are central to everything we do at Kelmarna, and support the workings of the farm in numerous different roles.
