Radio Lollipop is an international charity dedicated to providing care, comfort, play and entertainment for sick children in hospitals. Each volunteer donates one night a week visiting children and providing a much-needed escape through fun and play by offering games, crafts or just someone to talk with. New Zealand has teams of volunteers in Christchurch, Counties Manukau, Starship, Waitakere and Whangarei. We broadcast a live on-air radio show in Christchurch and Starship to children wards in these hospitals. We are seeking volunteers to make a positive difference in the lives of children on a regular basis with a minimum commitment of 18 months. Full training will be provided before you visit children on the wards as well as an annual refresher session. Radio Lollipop needs volunteers who are sensitive to the changing needs of children in hospital. People who will bring a sense of fun, adaptable to times to be quiet and times to be upbeat. Each volunteer brings their own unique strengths and imagination creating happy moments on the wards. We have a vibrant and diverse team of volunteers making a difference to children in hospital. Visiting in the evenings helps us give children in hospital better dreams! Join us at our next information evening to take the next step with Radio Lollipop.
