The clinic is a community-based health service (Medical Centre) which has operated for over 40 years. It is staffed by professional registered nurses and operates Monday to Friday from premises in Kawakawa Bay and Ōrere Point. The Clinic is a registered charity and incorporated society (2024) and is run on a day-to-day basis by a volunteer committee of passionate locals. It is supported financially by Health NZ as well as the communities it serves.
