Our Mission, Vision & Values We are a group of local volunteers and a newly formed charity dedicated to un-homed cats by humanely capturing, socialising, neutering and then finding them forever homes. As well as being kind in coming to the aid of cats in need we are also making what we hope is a significant contribution to lessening the environmental impacts of an unchecked local cat population. Our History Like many Kiwi initiatives, Diamond Harbour Cat rescue was founded by individuals who saw the need to take positive action. Having stumbled across a litter of abandon kittens, a local Diamond Harbour couple poured their heart and soul as well as all available resources into setting up a co-ordinated rescue service that has gone from strength to strength. In October 2024, the Group became a registered charity with a formal executive to assist in furthering the great work started. Who We Help There are many ways in which we lessen the suffering of kittens and cats that are in need. We capture them humanely, neuter them, tag, feed them and provide foster shelter until forever homes are located. We find the resources to repair broken limbs and treat a range of ailments and diseases. Actively managing the wild cat population improves ongoing outcomes for the wellbeing of our wider environment and reduces the impact of over population. Not only do we help the cats find forever homes, our service honors the extraordinary bond that we as humans have with our feline friends by becoming their companions for life.
