The Nelson Basketball Association (NBA) has been at the heart of basketball in Nelson since its founding in 1968. Operating out of the association-owned Jack Robins Memorial Stadium in Stoke, Nelson, this single-court facility with attached offices was built by dedicated players and supporters who wanted to give the sport a true home in the region. Nelson has a proud basketball history, producing numerous Tall Blacks, Tall Ferns, NZ Breakers, and national age-group representatives, along with top-level coaches and managers. The NBA is committed to continuing this tradition by providing year-round development opportunities for athletes of all ages. The association runs competitions for all levels, from Year 3&4 Junior 3×3 miniball to a highly competitive senior club league. This league features a mix of Nelson Giants, rising local talent, and past legends of the game. Games are held at both Jack Robins Memorial Stadium and Saxton Stadium, a five-court facility at Saxton Fields. With a strong community focus and a legacy of excellence, the Nelson Basketball Association remains a cornerstone of the sport in the region.
