SASH (Sexual Abuse Suppport and Healing)

SASH is a not for profit organisation that is based in Nelson and has teams in Motueka, Marlborough and Greymouth. For over 30 years, SASH has been committed to providing specialist support in the Sexual Violence space. We rely on government contracts to fund our much needed growing service. We are fortunate in being able to deliver three services: Case Management (Nelson/Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast) – Our Social Work based team supports Adults and Children/youth and their whanau on their journey of healing from sexual harm. This can include; specialising in emotional regulation, sensory modulation and basic grounding skills, navigation, advocacy, access to services, providing information and education, and supporting with referrals to ACC Sensitive Claims Counselling and Therapeutic services. Court Support (Nelson/ West Coast) - Our Court Support service supports survivors who are engaged in charging an alleged offender through the court system. This involves advice and education in regard to the process, the people involved, a physical walk through the court, preparing statements, supporting the survivor in court, reading statements if necessary and supporting during the verdict, and also at times when the police deliver the news that the case won't be going to court. Crisis Response Service (Nelson) – We have a Rape Crisis Response team of 6 staff who hold a roster to ensure someone is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The team support along side police, and a specialised medical team in a sexual assault situation, and also when survivors are making evidential statements. In addition, we are an ACC Sensitive Claim Supplier, holding a contract with ACC that sits ACC Sensitive Claims Providers under the umbrella of SASH as Independent Contractors.
