Ngaio Marsh House and Heritage Trust

Dame Ngaio Marsh is New Zealand's own Queen of Crime Fiction. She was an internationally acclaimed author, theatre director and artist. Ngaio Marsh wrote most of her books in her house in Christchurch, where she lived for 72 years. Ngaio's house is preserved as a museum, it remains much as she lived in it. It is a category one historic place and the garden is a registered heritage garden. Our aim is to open the house to everyone so they can come see this important building and hear more about a New Zealander who was well ahead of her time
