Parangarahu Lakes Reforestation

Environment & Conservation Micro Volunteering Wellington

About this opportunity

A substantial restoration effort is being organised by a group of committed community members from around Wellington. The project is located on the eastern side of Wellington Harbour and contains a substantial amount of native bush scrub and regenerating land. On this day we will be doing some planting. The aim is to assist the natural regeneration by returning a seed source to a landscape which has been depleted by humans and animals. The trees are eco-sourced and are planted in rabbit and stock proof plots. What you need to bring: Sturdy shoes/boots: sun hat: long sleeves: and long trousers. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a jacket: beanie: jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. What we provide: a fully trained team leader: gloves: tools and training. Free transport to and from the city centre is available. Get in touch to book a seat in our van.
