About this opportunity
The aim of this long-term project is to provide restored habitat for our vulnerable Longfin eel. The volunteers activities will involve removing environmental pest plants: clearing rubbish and planting trees and shrubs (winter months only) to provide shelter for our waterways and improve the ecosystem of our precious wildlife. This respected organisation is working in a 22 ha strip of native and regenerating native bush which encompasses the Ngaio Gorge. The park takes in stunning views of stream and forest-scape. Come join them in the restoration of the Longfin eel habitat in this beautiful urban paradise! Anyone can volunteer as long as you have a love of the outdoors and willingness to get your hands dirty! Do note that you will need sturdy footwear!
