About this opportunity
Totara Hospice's vision is to honour the living and dignify dying. We need volunteers to support this vision by visiting patients in their homes and recording their life story however they choose to tell it - as a letter to someone, as a story or maybe just a photo collage. A life story allows the patient to reflect on their life and have their memories shared and treasured by them and their loved ones. We are looking for compassionate, empathetic volunteers who are willing to sit and listen.
If you possess basic typing skills, have the ability to be non-judgmental when listening, prefer to work individually, willing to travel to our patients homes in South Auckland and are available on a casual basis that suits the patient & yourself we need you to help us keep Making Hospice Happen.
Life Stories could potentially require hour/s long sessions during the week, you will need to have flexibility within your schedule to be able to cater to the patients needs. We will provide a recording device for you to record on & then take back with you to transcribe on your own computer.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, we would love to hear from you.
A life story can take anywhere from one session to weekly visits spanning over a period of months. It is totally dependent on the patients needs.Good for
