Volunteer firefighter (Operational Support) - Auckland Volunteer Fire Brigade

Emergency Response Long Term Auckland

About this opportunity

Being a member of our brigade is quite a commitment, meaning you will need to attend a minimum number of calls per year, attend training evenings and weekends, and help out with brigade events and fund-raising.

Prior to applying, a few basic requirements that you would need to be able to confirm are:
•Availability on Monday nights for meetings and training (not every week, but regularly)
•A full NZ drivers license (Class 2 heavy vehicle license can also be beneficial)
•A permanent NZ resident
•A vehicle available to attend fire calls
•The ability to speak and understand English
•A clean police record

As a brigade we run an 'Observer' programme for prospective members, in which we provide an opportunity over 6-8 weeks to get an understanding of the type of jobs we attend and the type of commitment and time that you would need to be able to offer. The programme is run several times during the year, with 4-6 observers in each.
