Sewing Machinists

Dunedin Curtain Bank
Logo for Dunedin Curtain Bank

The Dunedin Curtain Bank is a charity that collects donated curtains, fixes them up, thermally lines them and gives them to people in need. Our aim is to help local people keep their homes warm and healthy.

This year we are super busy, and need experienced sewers to help us keep up with demand. Our volunteer machinists help to make alterations, attach curtain tape, line curtains and sew a variety of other smaller products for fundraising, such as wheat bags, door draft-stops, etc. We're also really interested to hear from anyone who has other bright ideas for items we could make using recycled curtain fabrics.

Our workshop is simple but well resourced, with a range of industrial and domestic machines. We have also have a lead machinist, who will help to induct, train and guide all sewing volunteers.

We are able to provide a travel Koha to our volunteers. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are keen to help us out this winter!
