Can you imagine a time when fathers were not allowed to be present at the birth of their child, or a time when mothers were anaesthetised against their will during labour?

Thanks to Parents Centre we do only have to imagine these conditions, and these are just two of the many achievements the organisation has made since its beginnings in Wellington in 1952.

Today we have 50 Centres nationwide providing childbirth education, parent education, support networks and much more. The volunteer committee of West Auckland Parents Centre do a fantastic job of running all of our services and events. We do however need some help. If you have a passion for family & parenting and the skills outlined below we would love to hear from you.

The Role The Parent Education Coordinator is responsible for assessing demand and scheduling our parent education courses. You'll liaise with our various speakers as well as work towards finding new ones as the need arises. You'll also be responsible for organising class hosts, or perhaps hosting yourself, and you'll also work with our Bookings Coordinator to make sure classes are well populated.

Please tell us why you want to volunteer, and why being with an organisation working with parents and soon to be parents appeals to you.

What We Offer Volunteering for Parents Centre has many rewards. Opportunities to learn new skills and share existing ones are many, as are opportunities to meet new people and nurture new friendships for you and your family, and to give something back to the community. The discounted membership fee is also a bonus!
