Can you imagine a time when fathers were not allowed to be present at the birth of their child, or a time when mothers were anaesthetised against their will during labour?
Thanks to Parents Centre we do only have to imagine these conditions, and these are just two of the many achievements the organisation has made since its beginnings in Wellington in 1952.
Today we have 50 Centres nationwide providing childbirth education, parent education, support networks and much more. The volunteer committee of West Auckland Parents Centre do a fantastic job of running all of our services and events. We do however need some help. If you have a passion for family & parenting and the skills outlined below we would love to hear from you.
The Role Are you a people person? Be honest because we have the perfect role for you starting 2020! Become a host for one of our classes. You’ll liaise with the Educator and participants. Set up the room and provide the classes with info on products we stock, and communicate with the class regarding WAPC services and enjoy the social interaction. There's also a small amount of class paperwork to complete.
What We Offer Volunteering for Parents Centre has many rewards – the excellent personal and professional development programme alone is a huge benefit, should you choose to make use of it. Opportunities to learn new skills and share existing ones are many, as are opportunities to meet new people and nurture new friendships for you and your family, and to give something back to the community. The discounted membership fee is also a bonus!
